At Harmon Prep, high school is where students begin transforming their interests, abilities, and ambitions into a clear path forward. Our small-class environment allows students to receive personalized instruction while taking greater ownership of their education. Through rigorous academics, project-based learning, leadership development, and real-world experiences, students build the confidence and skills needed to succeed after graduation
Purpose and Preparation
High school students take greater ownership of their education while preparing for college, careers, and life beyond the classroom. Through rigorous academics, personalized instruction, project-based learning, internships, work-study, and service learning, students connect their studies to real-world experiences. Along the way, they develop the confidence, independence, leadership, and practical skills needed to make informed decisions and move forward with purpose.
Throughout the day our HIGH SCHOOL students will participate in the following activities:
Sciences
Students explore biology, chemistry, environmental science, and other scientific disciplines through laboratory experiments, research, observation, and analysis. They learn to apply the scientific method, interpret evidence, and communicate their findings through written reports and presentations.
English Language Arts
Students strengthen their skills in literature, composition, research, public speaking, and analytical writing. Coursework encourages students to examine diverse perspectives, construct evidence-based arguments, and communicate clearly in preparation for college-level assignments and professional environments.
Math
High school mathematics builds students’ understanding of algebra, geometry, statistics, and advanced mathematical concepts. Students learn to apply mathematical reasoning to practical situations while developing the accuracy, persistence, and problem-solving skills required for college and career success.
Foreign Language
Foreign-language study helps students develop communication skills while gaining an appreciation for other cultures, traditions, and global perspectives. Projects, presentations, and interactive learning give students opportunities to apply their language skills in meaningful ways.
College and Career Readiness
Students receive guidance as they explore colleges, careers, scholarships, and postsecondary opportunities. SAT preparation, academic planning, résumé development, interview practice, and application support help each student create a thoughtful plan for life after high school.
Physical Education and Athletics
Physical education and athletics promote health, discipline, teamwork, resilience, and personal responsibility. Students participate in activities designed to support lifelong wellness while strengthening their ability to work toward individual and team goals.
Social Studies and Humanities
Students examine history, government, economics, culture, and contemporary social issues. Through research, discussion, and project-based assignments, they learn to evaluate sources, consider multiple perspectives, and understand their roles as informed and responsible citizens.
Arts
Visual and performing arts allow students to explore their creativity and develop their individual voices. Students may participate in visual arts, music, dance, drama, or other creative disciplines while building confidence through practice, performance, and presentation.
Service Learning
Students participate in community-based projects that develop leadership, empathy, and civic responsibility. Built-in volunteer hours allow students to serve others while gaining valuable experience for college applications, scholarships, résumés, and future employment.
Work-Study and Internships
Work-study and internship opportunities introduce students to professional expectations and different career fields. Students develop workplace skills, build professional relationships, and gain practical experience that helps connect their education to future possibilities.
